Job Category: Electrical/Mechanical EMC Design Engineer Hardware Department
Job Type: Full Time
Job Location: Dubai
Location: Dubai, United Arab Emirates (Micropolis Robotics)
About the Role
An EMC/EMI/EMF Engineer is responsible for ensuring that electronic systems function reliably without causing or suffering from harmful electromagnetic interference. This role involves managing Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC), which includes controlling Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) (emissions) and ensuring Electromagnetic Susceptibility (EMS) (immunity).
The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience with high-speed digital design and is comfortable supporting products from concept through prototype bring-up and production.
Key Responsibilities
- Design & Optimization: Provide design oversight for electronic modules at the circuit board (PCB) and system levels. This includes defining shielding, grounding, and filtering strategies to minimize emissions and enhance immunity.
- Compliance Testing: Conduct and coordinate extensive testing (e.g., Radiated/Conducted Emissions, Radiated/Conducted Immunity, and ESD) to meet global regulatory and OEM-specific standards.
- Troubleshooting: Perform root cause analysis for EMC/EMI failures and develop effective mitigation solutions, such as adding ferrite beads or redesigning PCB layouts.
- Simulation & Analysis: Use simulation tools to predict electromagnetic behavior and analyze signal/power integrity before physical prototyping.
- Documentation: Develop comprehensive EMC test plans, procedures, and final reports required for product certification. .
Key Technical Standards
- Engineers must ensure compliance with international and manufacturing standards, including:
Requirements & Skills
- Education: Typically requires a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
- Technical Knowledge: Expertise in RF field theory, electronic circuit design, and high-speed signal propagation.
- Tools: Proficiency with lab equipment like spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and anechoic chambers.
