About the Role 

Micropolis is seeking a highly skilled Wire Harness Design Engineer, you will be involved in designing, developing, and integrating the complex networks of wires, connectors, and terminals that power everything from the engine and powertrain to the infotainment and advanced safety systems.  

Core Responsibilities

  • System Design & Layout: Create detailed 2D schematics and 3D routing layouts for vehicle wiring systems, ensuring they fit within the physical constraints of the vehicle body. 
  • Component Selection: Define and select appropriate electrical components, including connectors, terminals, fuses, and relays, based on electrical load and environmental requirements. 
  • Circuit Analysis: Perform technical calculations such as voltage drop, thermal derating, and fuse sizing to ensure system reliability and safety. 
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with mechanical engineers to locate electrical items and ensure harness routing does not interfere with other vehicle systems. 
  • Manufacturing Support: Create manufacturing-ready documentation, including formboard drawings and work instructions, to support the assembly and installation process. 
  • Testing & Validation: Conduct continuity, pull-force, and environmental tests to verify that designs meet industry standards like IPC/WHMA-A-620.  

Essential Technical Skills 

  • CAD & Design Software: Proficiency in industry-standard tools is mandatory. Leading software includes: 
    • AutoCAD Electrical or Inventor
  • Electrical Fundamentals: Strong understanding of electrical principles, CAN BUS systems, and grounding strategies. 
  • Compliance Knowledge: Familiarity with automotive standards and regulatory requirements for wiring and safety.

Requirements & Experience 

  • Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Mechatronics Engineering is typically required. 
  • Experience: Most roles require 3–5 years of hands-on experience in harness design.
